How to Avoid Caffeine or Sugar Withdrawals

How to Avoid Caffeine or Sugar Withdrawals

I’ve seen a lot of discussions on Facebook about withdrawals. There’re usually two types of posts:

  1. Questions about how to avoid withdrawals
  2. Complaints about withdrawal symptoms

I wanted to share another perspective.

Withdrawals are not INEVITABLE!

Some people get really upset about this topic because it touches on addiction, which is seldom completely understood, even among “experts.”

I’ve worked with people over the past 12 years to help them release their food and caffeine cravings and addictions.

What I immediately discovered is that withdrawals are absolutely PREVENTABLE! And yes, this includes people who have been labeled as addicts, those early in their recovery, those long into their recovery, and those who don’t identify as someone with an addiction.

Here’s a dramatic example. Years ago, I worked with a client who was taking 6 or more espresso shots a day. She sought me out as she was having symptoms related to that level of intake, but couldn’t quit on her own. As I guided her through her session, she recalled being brought warm drinks in bed by her parents when she couldn’t sleep. Once she made the emotional connection to that warm and fuzzy feeling of being cared for by her parents, she didn’t feel the compulsion to drink espresso.

Usually, after someone quits a high intake of caffeine or sugar cold turkey, withdrawal symptoms follow, which can include:

Headaches
Flu-like symptoms
Nausea
Irritability
Shaking
Sweating
Cravings, etc.

My client actually forgot to drink her espresso drink the following morning and had ZERO withdrawal symptoms.

I see the same results with every type of sugar and carbohydrate-rich food you can imagine. It’s my gift.

It takes courage and requires trust to let go of a craving.

Believe it or not, it doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy caffeine or sugary foods ever again.

it just means you don’t HAVE to have them and if you have them, you won’t lose control and go crazy. You’ll be satisfied with a much smaller amount (maybe 1/8th to 1/4). You’ll feel peaceful when you say no. There will simply be a newfound peace. You’ll have choice. A choice to say yes, and a choice to say no. You’re not giving up something, you’re gaining freedom.

Peace becomes the prevailing feeling. All of this healing and more is available in My Healthy Foundation Program. Take a look if you’re curious.

All the best,

Kara
