What? You may be wondering what a memory driven food craving is or if you have one. I made this phrase up to describe what I’ve seen with hundreds of patients over the last 8 years. These cravings are born out of a positive experience from one’s past, paired with a specific food. The great thing is, once you have a vivid experience of the memory driving this particular type of craving, you’re free of the craving. Poof, freedom, no more cravings, and that food is no big deal anymore.
It’s always wonderful when this happens. You can’t make it happen, I can’t make it happen, but when it does, it’s a beautiful thing that signals a return to freedom with that food. Memory driven food cravings are something that can be transformed, so you don’t need to eat that food to feel the good feeling you crave.
