During sessions, many of my patients have concerns come up. We work with them as they do, and they generally fade quickly, and they get what they want.
Some concerns sound like:
“Will I be a boring person if I’m not eating what I Crave?”
“Will I be too controlled and UNFUN?”
That is a genuine concern! The point of this work is to be more free, more spontaneous and truly enjoy food, eating and the rest of your life MORE, not less. It’s about being more satisfied, more in charge and more at peace.
Once your cravings are gone, and you’re feeling in control, you won’t miss your old way of being. I haven’t had a patient complain that they wanted to go back to how they were before their session.
Plus, being ‘in control’ is very different from being ‘controlled.’ The first is easy and feels natural, the latter takes willpower and energy to maintain and can be lost. The point of this work is to experience the former and let go of the latter.
Who wants to exert more control and willpower? Not me!
What does Peace with Food feel like?
After your session, you will feel different about what you worked on during the session. You may not be used to it, but it will feel natural somehow, and like how things ‘should’ be.
So, my answer is NO, you will not feel or be boring after a session, you can still have fun, enjoy food and even the food you used to crave if you choose.
