Is Fruit Making YOU Fat?

Is Fruit Making YOU FatAre you having problems with fruits or sugars causing unwanted weight gain? How about other symptoms? You generally eat really well, you may not even have cravings for sugar, but if you have a little fruit, a starchy carbohydrate like potato or rice, or some red wine or chocolate, everything goes south. Make no mistake, this is a metabolic issue. Perhaps, you used to be able to enjoy these foods, but as the years march on, your body can’t tolerate them as well as they used to. As we mature our metabolism shifts, and it can be harder for our bodies to process sugars–and fruit is a sugar. Men may have this issue, but it’s not usually as severe (ladies, they have other issues). But, the good news is, this metabolic shift can be reversed and your metabolism can improve dramatically.

How do you know if your metabolism is broken? You may gain a crazy amount of weight compared to what you ate, you may gain weight around the middle. or have insomnia, night-sweats, or not feel well, etc. These symptoms vary from person to person, but you will know that you have them if you pay close attention. Many of my patients have had to stay away from sugars due to their metabolic issues, but when they shifted their metabolism, they were able to enjoy fruit again, no problem. This transformation happened for me too, and I’m able to have fruit 3x/day with my meals if I choose. You can read about it . Before my metabolism shifted, I could barely get away with having a few berries in the morning if I was feeling lucky that day. The program I did is called metabolic balance® and it has helped many of my patients make peace with fruit and start enjoying their healthy bodies again. I’m sure there are other ways to do this, this is just the quickest and most reliable way I’ve found so far–and I’ve been looking for a long time.

 

And most importantly, if you are eating healthfully and you seem to be gaining weight from just “looking at food”(especially sugars) and you think it’s all your fault–think again–your metabolism just needs some support and adjustment. If you can’t tolerate sugar, fruit or a little alcohol, please know that there is a solution and you don’t have to swear them off forever. Fruit has some wonderful phyto nutrients, right? A little wine once in a while is a pleasure for many. A square of dark chocolate is a nutrient dense powerhouse. So why not enjoy these foods in health?

Once your body has the nutrients it needs, you will feel like your old (younger) self again, and be able to enjoy fruit. You may even feel like you did 10-20 years ago once your metabolism shifts. You don’t have to swear off fruits and sugars, you can have peace with fruit and celebrate your good health for many years to come.
