You’d think that thinking about food would make you want it more, right? Well, imagining eating your favorite food can actually reduce cravings and the tendency to overeat. I’ve been using this technique combined with Acupressure with great success for years. I was delighted when a study found what I already knew to be true. Here’s a link to the study in Science, and here’s a description from Science Daily:
‘A new study by researchers at Carnegie Mellon University, published in Science, shows that when you imagine eating a certain food, it reduces your actual consumption of that food. This landmark discovery changes the decades-old assumption that thinking about something desirable increases cravings for it and its consumption.’
So, if you’d like to supercharge your results, try using Acupressure (TAT) along with your imaging and you’ll find that the results last and last. I’m not sure if they found that in the study, but that’s what I’ve found again and again with my patients.
If you try it, please let me know, I’d love to hear from you!
