It’s Thanksgiving tomorrow here in the states. You may be celebrating (or not). Either way, I want to share some helpful tips to get you through the holidays feeling great!
You can use Gratitude this Holiday season to not only to feel better but to get control of your eating.
What I need you to do, is drop and give me 5!
Ack! That sounds like a bootcamp trainer, doesn’t it?
When you have a craving, you’ve overeaten, or you’re stressed about the crazy things your family says, do this:
- Gently drop your awareness from your head to your heart and take 5 deep breaths into the center of your chest
- Think of 5 things you’re grateful for or that you can easily appreciate
- Put your attention on your heart or place your hand on your heart (center of your chest) to help connect with Gratitude
- Continue breathing slowly and a bit more deeply than normal
It’s that simple. By feeling grateful, you automatically connect to your heart. When you connect to your heart, you connect to your innate wisdom. When you connect to your innate wisdom, you choose the foods that are right for you.
If you’ve already overeaten and you’re falling into the trap of beating yourself up mentally, stop and do this:
- Gently drop your awareness from your head to your heart and take 5 deep breaths into the center of your chest
- Put your attention on your heart or place your hand on your heart (center of your chest) to help connect with Gratitude
- Be grateful that you have paused to take time to be with your heart, your wisdom, and your best knowing
- Continue breathing slowly and a bit more deeply than normal
Every time you catch yourself in a craving, or beating yourself up mentally, you break the pattern. When you break a pattern, it makes it easier to choose new ways of eating and being. Remember, with anything, practice makes perfect. Do this whenever you want to regain balance.
And how does Gratitude help with weight loss?
When you connect to your heart, your whole body relaxes, your brain can receive the messages from your heart and all the systems of your body function better.
When your body is in balance, and you’re making choices based on your innate wisdom, it’s natural to shed unwanted pounds.
So Happy Holidays! I’m so grateful for you!
