Brussels Sprouts As Good As French Fries, What?

Brussels Sprouts As Good As French Fries, What?

brussels sproutsIf you knew me, you’d know I love french fries. I can attribute my love of those delicious potato slices of heaven to my Dad, but that’s a different blog post. But, recently, I’ve fallen in love with brussels sprouts and they’re rivaling french fries on my list of loved treats.

I’ve eaten brussels sprouts at fancy French restaurants as they know how to make them and they’ve been good, but not great. Other than that, I’ve avoided them. But, this weekend, I tried a new recipe and now I can’t stay away from them–we went to the market for more for our next dinner meal. My husband has always turned his nose up at them–and cauliflower, too–but due to some recent successful recipes that transformed his opinion and he was willing to try them. Now, he can’t get enough, and neither can I.  It’s not the recipe that’s important here, it’s that we found something we enjoy and we kept trying until we found something. Now, we have some ‘go to’ recipes we love that also happen to be very healthy. We’ll keep exploring and experimenting, as that’s the spice of life.

And just let me tell you that Balsamic Vinegar makes everything better!

So, my questions for you are:

  • What vegetable have you tried that previously gave you the ick factor that you now enjoy?
  • Would you be willing to try a new vegetable this week? If so, just go to the grocery store, ask the produce person for a unique recommendation and enjoy! Here’s the recipe in case you’re curious. We used coconut oil, but you can use any you like that is heat stable. If this recipe doesn’t float your boat, there are a lot of other brussels sprouts recipes out there with pine nuts, pancetta, bacon grease, there’s something for everyone. And if you can’t see eating these little cabbages, try some other vegetable recipe

  • There could be something in store for you, so take a chance. Who knows, you could find an all time favorite and it could be the missing ingredient your body needs. Brussels sprouts actually help with getting rid of excess hormones and toxins from your body, so they’re great for everyone.
